The Uncanny Trio were just ordinary animals who were accidently exposed to toxic waste from an incinerator. Somehow, the toxins cause them to grow in size and mutate. They gained human intelligence and characteristics as well as retaining their animal powers. After mutating, the trio decided to take revenge on mankind. They did this by using toxic waste to make the people of Innsmouth, Massachusetts, into zombies under their control. Fortunately, April O'Neil stumbled across Innsmouth. She and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were able to foil the Trio's schemes, but the Trio escaped to plot another day.
